CHRIS DYKO

On December 28, 2014, the Washington State University family lost a man eligible for the title of Mr. Cougar. Chris "Mongo" Dyko tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Florida. Dyko was a star offensive linemen who attended Washington State University from 1984-1988. Dyko was a memeber of the 1988 Aloha Bowl championship team and had a short career in the NFL & CFL before injuries forced him to retire. Following his brief professional career, Dyko became an avid cyclist and kayaker.
There was more to Dyko than just his football career. Those who knew him, say Dyko never wasted a single day in his life. They will always remember him as kind, loyal, and sensitive. Those who greeted him, would be met with an infectious smile and more often than not, a bear hug.
Dyko was a big part of the Cougar family. He often attended both home and away football games following his time at Washington State University. Chris Dyko loved Washington State and being a Coug. This is why the Chris Dyko Memorial Scholarship was developed by his loved ones. The scholarship will give a young student athlete the opportunity to pursue their dreams of college athletics and be a part of the Cougar family that Chris loved so much.
